“Locke swept into a bow, made an elaborate show out of backing up into another confused and affronted stranger, and turned on his heel to scamper away.”
Sunday morning is upon us again, the sun streaking through my kitchen window in a way that makes me second guess what I have my laptop set up since it means the sun shines right into my eyes as I type, which is not exactly conducive to writing, even if it does feel amazing. I’ve been moderately productive in this last chunk of the week…no where near I should be, but a little bit better than I have been. So, not an exciting RoW80 check-in, but a good one. Let’s have a look:
Serpent in a Cage: This is the reason I feel that I’ve been terrible with productivity this week; I didn’t get a chance to touch SiaC until just last night, and I only really wrote out another page (a page, might I add, that seemed lacking in good things to quote at the top of this post). Tomorrow, I’m hoping to make up for it. I know I keep saying I intend to make up for the missed days and the pages I’m behind, but one day, I’ll get there. With only about ten days left to February, though, it hasn’t been my priority like Bowlful of Bunnies has been. Page count: 19/48.
Bowlful of Bunnies: I’m really starting reconsider the title. I like it, but it might be too cutesy. We shall see. I need to focus more on the content right now than the title, and that’s been going well. As I mentioned in the last update, I found a zombie story I’d forgotten about and I’m typing that up, and I’ve also managed to fit in one day of just sitting my ass down for thirty minutes and writing, so there’s a rough draft of a story about a machine girl in love in there now, too. I’m hoping to squeeze in another half hour before work today, too, though I’m not sure what this story will be. Turns out that if I really push myself, I can get something written easily in thirty minutes, which may help cover up the gaps in the collection. I might push my beta back to a week into March to give myself some time to edit first, but I think things will be on track for this project! Hooraaaaay!
The 100 Books Project: I’m dragging my butt on finishing another book because doing reviews of books by people whose blogs I read is nervewracking. So I’ve been putting that off, but making some headway in some other books. I’m really hoping to have two books finished by the end of this week. It feels like I haven’t been reading as much this year as I did last year. Hopefully, that makes I’ve just been writing more. Books read: 5/100.
Featured Story: Sunday also means a change in my Featured Story. A big bundle of thanks to C.M. Hubbard for his thoughtful and useful critique on the last one! This new one, “Lilacs,” is a newer story that I’m incredibly uncertain of despite how much I love it. It’s gone through a lot of changes, but I think the current incarnation works. Let me know if you think otherwise! Any feedback would be incredibly helpful and appreciated.
That’s all I have for today. I’m looking forward to my usual Monday off, where I will make the attempt to push through some of these goals a little more, but I’ve got to get through Sunday first. If you get a chance, try to stop by and visit my other RoWers today: you can find them all here to cheer them on.
Happy Writing!
