“Those wide blue eyes started dancing over Jaxson, over Gilferen, over Locke’s still figure on the ground, and Gilferen pulled himself up, stiffening under the flitting gaze. The questions she was asking…It was so far-fetched that he couldn’t believe it. Survived what? She couldn’t possibly mean the massacre.
But she did. Knolan’s eyes fell, the shadow crossing over him as it always did whenever the Massacre was brought up. ‘No,’ he said quietly. ‘None others. None that I know of, anyway.’””
Let’s crunch some numbers today, shall we? Round Three of One of the Best Things I’ve Ever Started, A Round of Words in 80 Days, is almost coming to an end. My original goal for this round was to finish a second draft of my Great Big Novel to start my Epic Series. That goal was very quickly scrapped and I told myself to at least write a page of it a day; I’ve done a little better than that and last week, I claimed I wanted to at least get to the break point where we switch POVs over to Auferrix briefly. And then I wasn’t so sure I would get to that point…
After today’s shift, I have both Monday and Tuesday off, and probably two chapters to write before I’m at that POV switch. Last night, I got a lot of work done getting through a scene that was difficult for me to write (ugh, fighting!), and so I think I might be able to drive myself and get to where I’d like to be for end of this round. And then Round Four can be dedicated to finishing it. I work best with a deadline in sight; it’s easy for me to set a bar, to see it there, and to forge forward and reach it, even if it means that Tuesday night, I’ll be up well past my bedtime until I manage to crawl across that finish line!
It’s so hard to believe it’s already toward the end of September! Time flies when you’re having fun, I guess. How are everyone else’s goals going? We’re so close to the end! Think you’ll make it?
Be sure to check out our RoWers here and encourage them on as we get to that finish line!
