Well, no, not the end of this Round of Words in 80 Days…we have until June 26th for that, so we’re still a far shot away. I am very, very, very close to the end of the first part of one of my goals, though, so that is incredibly exciting. Great things always happen when I’m able to participate in RoW80. It’s so good to be back.
Let’s have a closer look at how I’ve been doing, which is fairly well, so there’s really not a lot to report on:
Goal One: Soulless. After today, I will only have two chapters of Soulless to go, and then the first edit is completely done. Holy crap, I think I might just start hyperventilating. Mondays are pretty good work days for me, too, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I finished it up tomorrow, especially since the last bit, the epilogue, is pretty short. I have a feeling Wednesday’s post will include a call-out to any beta readers, then I’ve got to hurry up and get that Kickstarter going. This is so exciting I think I could puke, and I was even thinking the other day how incredible it is that I, who has been struggling with Serpent in a Cage for more than a decade, could manage to still whip up a pretty solid novel in about a year, just because I set my mind to it (and I’m not as protective/perfectionist about it as I am SiaC). Pretty powerful, incredible stuff right there. I can totally do this author thing.
Goal Two: Stories. I got a lot of work done on Snow White and Rose Red retelling, though I’m trying to think of a title and kind of worried about messing up the original too much, since I’m not as familiar with this story. But I like what I’ve got so far, so that’s a good sign. I’m sure once the first edits on Soulless are finished and I’ve sent it off to beta readers, I’ll have more time to finish this one and then get a few others stories churned out, too.
That’s about it! I’m going to start sparing some thought for what could take the place of Goal One while Soulless is being beta-read. Should it be focusing on typing up Serpent in a Cage, which is only half a chapter and an epilogue away from being finished? Or should I focus on finishing the rough draft of the book that followed Soulless in The Slayer Saga? Or should it be a different novel entirely? I’ll just cross that bridge when I come to it, I think.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, including my own, theoneonlyjeanne! And check out my fellow RoWers here if you get the chance! Happy writing!
